Social media is a very nice way to let the world know you are around. Or better said: you are available for photoshoots. But don't limit your choice. There is so much more than just Facebook, Twitter and Instagram...
Instagram (and Facebook) is about the likes and the followers. You rarely make real contact with photographers who see you as a Model for a photoshoot. This is simply due to the fact that it is very large and it is difficult to just by accident find a good photographer at an acceptable distance for a photo shoot. The communication options are also limited and it is really wise to check names on google. Often people pretend to be photographers but they are not real photographers.
Of course you can be lucky an build your own network, but on they are more ways to do the job.
Choose specific forums
There are also forums that focus specifically on models and photography forums. Or only on photography forums but as a model you can also build a profile there. I will mention a few:
Photography, art- and model-communities:
And the new app's:
Of course there are many more. Just google around and try to find the forums/Social Media you like the most.
Spread your wings
You will find that it is often easier to make contacts on specific forums.
Most forums are also better protected for the general public and you can, for example, more easily upload glamor or art / nude photos without being immediately findable on google or being censored.
Last but not least: get your name out there and use the possibilities to check photographers, to read the specific articles about photoshoots, use the reference-options and learn a lot to look at other models.
Good luck ! And contact me so we can get in contact and support each other !
For a model is outdoor-shooting a real challenge. The weather is never ideal: rain, cold or too hot. How to prepare yourself for all possible wheater-conditions?
And which clothes should you bring?

It might look I am still working and traveling, but I am staying at home, just like you do. This picture is a picture for stock-photography for GettyImages, Shutterstock and I-Stock.
Theme: 'working at home', 'lunch in the park', 'relaxing during lunchbreak', 'reading a magazine'
Stockphotography is the ability to purchase photos from stock. These stock photos are provided by stock photography companies such as Getty-Images, Shutterstock, Dreamstime, I-stock and many others. The photos can be free but can also be bought by anyone. Stock photos are often used by magazines, companies and bloggers. It is a lot of fun, educational and useful to have worked for stockphotography as a model. They are often fresh, cheerful and beautiful business photos that show that you are versatile as a model.

If you are an active member on Modelforums or Social Media you will notice a lot of models in latex outfits. These beautiful outfits and amazing pictures normally have nothing to do with the BDSM world. Mostly these pictures are just about Latex fashion, latex designers or just a sort of extreme fashionata feeling.
A lot of models are fond of Latex Photography. One reason is because the cloths are tight and shining. The clothes are só tight they are accentuating the feminine curves in the most beautiful way possible. Think Jessica Rabbit.
The second reason is because the clothes are shining and amazingly 'different' than normal outfits. Most models love these pictures in their portfolio because it shows their figure, it shows they are capable of 'doing' latex photography. The make-up accessorizes are always as extreme as well and the pictures are just.. outstanding.
Latex photography is something completely else. The photographers really need a lot of experience to create good pictures. The perspective of latex photography is mostly, as fetish pictures as well, from the bottom up to the sky. This extreme angles makes the model look longer, much longer en extra ordinary. Settings are studio, outdoors but most beloved: urban settings.
Latex models are various models in many different genres. Fashion models who are showing Latex Fashion, or glamourmodels, nude-models or porn-models. Hobby-models or just people showing latex fashion (as on Flickr) are very common too.
Latex is as big as normal fashion. It is impossible to talk about 'Latex models' in general.
It really makes no sense to judge Latexmodels and to put a label on them. Latexmodels are just as fashion. either you love it or you don't....

If you start modeling it is a great investment to start learning to photoshop as well. Most of the times, you will get your pictures ready to publish on the Internet, Social Media or to print for yourself.
But if you do a TFP shoot or you get the published from the agency is strange sizes; it is necessary to learn how to re-size your picture for better composition.
But there is also a possibility you need to cut the pictures, to brighten them (too dark) or just to change something which is not right on the picture or annoying.
Re-sizing, changing the colors, brighten them up, making a picture black and white or to add a nice filter, is not difficult at all.
You can use Photoshop or Gimp.
in this article I will talk about the open-source software: GIMP.
Photoshop or photomanipulations:
There is nothing wrong with a photoshopped or photo-manipulation picture. Most of the pictures are 'photoshopped' before they are published anyway. Photo's are made perfect by correcting the light, maybe removing disturbing objects in the picture or changing background. Or maybe the model is 'photoshopped' so the skin looks better, the clothes are better fitting or maybe even made a bit taller, smaller or stronger.
You need to have polaroids and castingpictures in your portfolio to show your natural performance. But it is also great to have some pictures which are flabbergasting good or just very unique.
A few photo-manipulations in your modelportfolio will show the world you are able to be a great divers model.

Yessss! You have contact with a modelagency, but now they are asking for 'polaroids'. But what do they mean? Polaroids are very old-fashioned and nobdy has polaroids-camera's anymore.
They just mean:
un-edited pictures, handy-pictures to show the real YOU without too much going on.

When you start modelling it is necessary to think about your own management. The best thing to can do, from the start, is to stay organized. As soon as you are going to do fotoshoot, whether TFP or paid jobd, you will get a lot of pictures. Some are for publishing on the internet, some are just for your eyes only or others are pictures in high resoltion which needs to be edited first.
Your pictures probably need to be framed, re-sized or selected before you start to upload them on your own Social Media.
You might want to think about where you want to storage your pictures. Do not take any risk to loose or your pictures because you only save them on your mobil or pc. A mobile can get lost, a personal computer might get a crash some day.
Make sure you copy and save a back-up on a storage website that works for you and has options to save them for your eyes only.

In the interview "How to become a model after 40", there is a question and an anwer I would like to explain:
What is your advice for other women over 40 who would like to start a modelling career?
I would like to point out that you will need good pictures to get started. Go to a very good photographer who is willing to help you out with some great portraits and full-body pictures (on which you are shown from toe till head). You can also setup profiles on modelling-forums like Modelmayhem, one-model-place etc. Here you can meet photographers and learn a lot more about the business.
On Modelforums (and even on Instagram and Facebook) you will read a lot of times "TFP".
But what is TFP meaning?
TFP is explained as "Time for print" in these words you can read literally that it is a deal with time and with prints.
The prints are the pictures from a photographer.
The time is the time spent for the model.
In other words: the model is willing to model for free, but she will get pictures (to print) from the photographer. The photographer is willing to make pictures for free.
TFP simply means: no money involved. The model will not pay the photographer, the photographer will not pay the model.
