If you are an active member on Modelforums or Social Media you will notice a lot of models in latex outfits. These beautiful outfits and amazing pictures normally have nothing to do with the BDSM world. Mostly these pictures are just about Latex fashion, latex designers or just a sort of extreme fashionata feeling.
A lot of models are fond of Latex Photography. One reason is because the cloths are tight and shining. The clothes are só tight they are accentuating the feminine curves in the most beautiful way possible. Think Jessica Rabbit.
The second reason is because the clothes are shining and amazingly 'different' than normal outfits. Most models love these pictures in their portfolio because it shows their figure, it shows they are capable of 'doing' latex photography. The make-up accessorizes are always as extreme as well and the pictures are just.. outstanding.
Latex photography is something completely else. The photographers really need a lot of experience to create good pictures. The perspective of latex photography is mostly, as fetish pictures as well, from the bottom up to the sky. This extreme angles makes the model look longer, much longer en extra ordinary. Settings are studio, outdoors but most beloved: urban settings.
Latex models are various models in many different genres. Fashion models who are showing Latex Fashion, or glamourmodels, nude-models or porn-models. Hobby-models or just people showing latex fashion (as on Flickr) are very common too.
Latex is as big as normal fashion. It is impossible to talk about 'Latex models' in general.
It really makes no sense to judge Latexmodels and to put a label on them. Latexmodels are just as fashion. either you love it or you don't....

Portfolio photoshoots at ErikBolding Studios, the Netherlands, 2010-2010:
If you did more than one photoshoot with the same photographer, it is nice to organize the pictures and make an extra page on your website/social media or a movie for your own YouTube Channel.
The photographer would certainly be very pleased, especially when the pictures are very different in settings, themes or time-frames.
I made this movie with the free Movie-maker programm: KdenLive. It is a bit of a struggle in the beginning but there are lots of tutorials on YouTube. Watch them first, it will help you to understand how it works. Once you know how it works, it is actually not that difficult. It will take some time, but it is very rewarding and the results are very nice for some extra promotion for yourself and the photographer.
If you start to save pictures in a folder which are all in the same size, it will be easy-peasy to make more videos in the future.
Good luck and enjoy the video!
If you want to be a model you have to think Big, but start Local!
Imagine, you are signed in into an modelagency or a castingagency. Now it is a matter of waiting and hoping you will be selected by a client for a casting or a direct shoot. Maybe it is not such a long wait, maybe you sit and wait forever....
But you can also start yourself. Doing TFP shoots is a great idea to build your portfolio. But you can also start making your own sedcard, website, Social Media etc. Look around, locally, and reach out for small businesses. They probably would like to have you for a photoshoot but they do not have the budget for a professional production. Call the TFP photographer you met on Social Media and get creative yourself. I am sure the client would love the pictures and ofcourse you can talk about promotion, publicity and a price. Or make a deal to do it for free in trade of great publicity.
Local businesses: The gardening store, a kitchen supplies store, the local beautysalons, a girlfriend who is sewing for clients, a family with a small office for rental houses etc. etc.
Think big: you will be a great model sooner or later. Start local: work with family, friends, local businesses to build your portfolio, to learn to work with photographers, to get more and more experiences as a model.
Good luck !

Modelmayhem is the # 1 portfolio website for professional models and photographers. Create a profile, upload your photos and connect with other professionals. ”
The global modeling forum.
Many well-known models have used Modelmayhem as a stepping stone in the modeling world. Travel models use Modelmayhem as an employer and many photographers and retouchers are also working full-time with Modelmayhem.
Interesting articles on Modelmayhem EDU and a very active forum. Interesting to get in-depth information and meet photographers when you're on the road in far-away places.
Three types of membership:
Free: Launch your career with unlimited messages with friends. Start connecting with other professionals. Create your portfolio; build your network and apply for jobs today!
Premium: $ 6 / month Stand out from the crowd with a Premium membership. Connect with more members, and po more casting calls.
VIP: $ 10 / month Unlimited access to Model Mayhem's most valuable networking and profile building tools.
Is Modelmayhem really cool or necessary for models? Yes it is. It might be your ticket for TFP shoots or to meet serious photographers. Profiles are being checked. It is not a datingsite like many other Social Media.
Castingcalls might be interesting as well. Always check. Or leave a travelnotice of your availability yourself.
Skip the rat-race about getting comments. It is time consuming and not necessary if you have a great portfolio.
Also: checking a photographer, is very easy because other models are mentioned and there are verified credits.
Do you have to be out there?
Is it really necesary for a model to be active on a model forum?
Yes and no. Nobody is waiting for unpleasant experiences or meaningless loss of time. It has little added value for a model to do many TFP shoots that yield worthless photos. In that case: don't!
But it can be a pleasant and educational use of time if you can do fun shoots, make good contacts and gain a lot of experience. Moreover, building a portfolio is essential in the modeling world and there are often very good, friendly and helpful photographers on modeling forums.
You can often select, filter, check and communicate on model forums yourself. After all, as a model and photographer you have the same goal: to take beautiful photos, have fun experiences and learn & perform! And present; last but not least: upload the beautiful result and receive appreciation .....
We will show you a lot of modelforums in detail in the next blogs. Any additions and corrections can be made if you send an email with details. The sentence printed in italics is the promotion of the platform as it itself was initiated on the internet. The rule below is partly based on personal experience, partly on opinions of third parties or research on the internet.
Read our next blogs and learn everything about these model-societies.
Model forums jargon:
I would just like to point out that modelforums (and the modeling world) have their own jargon that is useful for understanding each other as quickly as possible.
Lists of definitions can be found on some forums, and if not, you can always check on the internet.
In short, be sure that you both intended the same before you participate in a nude photo shoot that may have the necessary consequences for your further career or privacy on the internet. The difference between "fine art" and "fine nude art" can also be very big. Fine art is everything that has to do with artistry and can also be pure and only a beautiful special black / white portrait, fine nude arts is more about the beauty of the naked human (female) body.
Conclusion: It is useful to read well and especially to thoroughly discuss the ins and outs of a photoshoot in advance. No unpleasant misunderstandings arise that could have been prevented.
Learn about the modelforums definitions and slang. It will be a big advance if you understand how to talk properly without misunderstandings.
Look on this website under the category; Definitions explained.

Last word about Safety on modelforums:
Model be alert! It cannot be said often enough: be careful out there!
Photo-model-platforms are ideal for establishing contacts, building a portfolio or for finding (paid) jobs.
But of course it is not without risk and it cannot be said often enough; as a model you have to double check a photographer, ask for references.
A certain degree of safety must be there for you to just meet somewhere in a studio or outdoors. It is always wise to take someone with you or at least inform someone in your area about the appointment.
Detailed information on safety and risks is provided in most forums. Even though there are no real names, you can always check contacts or references from the past shoots.
There are also the necessary risks for a photographer and it is wise to check a model. Of course you don't want to book a model that doesn't show up. Or even worse: missing expensive cameras or stiff afterwards. Check the model if there are any bad references. Also take a look around on the internet. How does she behave with the pictures?
Talk about your expectations and be sure you can trust each other.
Again: be well prepared and safe!
How to deal with criticism?
Most modelforums also have a system where photos are assessed.
Some modelforums offers the opportunity to like, comment or save photos in galleries, the others forum are offering complete contests that give a photographer or the model in question great credit when they win it.
It is very good for a model and a photographer to learn from each other in this way. You learn to judge photos technically or to see what the taste of the general public is. However, it is sometimes a bit of a blow when comments (or exchanges occur in comments) or when the contests are taken too seriously by the participants.
It is also often too much of a good thing, for a starting photographer or model, to have to meet the towering quality that the experienced photographers or retouchers deliver. It can have a demotivating effect and deprive the fun of a fun photo shoot if a photo is judged on the basis of (the absence of) criticisms because the person in question does not participate in the crazy madness. But of course it remains up to you as a model to choose whether you will participate in each other with compliments or comments and to what extent you want to be criticized. You can often turn this off and just do your own thing ....
Tone of voice
Also think about your own tone of voice. How do you give criticism, substantive or superficial? Be friendly, polite and do not comment if it is not necessary. You get what you give. Be an example of how it should be done.
If you think a photo is bad, you don't have to say this. Saying nothing often says enough. Always give constructive criticism that benefits someone else. Good, cool, super, top, bold, cool, are nice expressions, but what do you like about the photo? The model, the light, the setting, the concept, the colors, the sharpness? Try to say something substantive.
As soon as you give substantive criticism, you will also get it back. That is also educational and has more to offer. Better a few good criticisms that will help you forwards, than hundreds of hearts which does not say anything at all.
Learn, learn, learn. Modelforums are ideal to learn to from others!
Modelforums, like Modelmayhem, are offering daily contests. Be sure if you upload a picture, it will be there forever. If you for some reason, afterwards regret, there is always a possibility to ask a moderator to delete the photo, but do not assume that this will work.
The quality of the competition, is often very high. So really think three times before you upload a photo. To appear at the bottom of the list is not so nice. Also be suspicious that there may also be negative comments.
Are you a starting model? Focus on your own profile, look carefully at other profiles, but do not stare blindly at the best of the best.
But if you have a VERY beautiful photo: the contest is a good medium to put yourself in the spotlight. And if you are a winner, this is of course fantastic for your brand awareness and portfolio.
Make a note of your 'awards', these are, after all, a great honor and a big deal for your portfolio and curriculum vitae!
